Captain and Vice-Captain’s 164-run partnership wins the match

CERN CC vs Geneva CC, Premier League, CERN cricket ground, Prévessin 27 May 2018

Geneva Cricket Club 315 for 9 in 40 overs (Anser 111, Khurram 65, Leo 51*, Achintya 4-51, Pardeep 3-59) beat CERN Cricket Club 112 all out in 25.3 overs (Massoud 4-21, Kashif 3-17) by 203 runs

An amazing 164-run partnership between skipper Anser and vice-captain Khurram won the second League match of the season. After a very good start by CERN as Bilal and Pardeep dismissed the opening batsmen, the two heroes completed their feat – which included a superb century from Anser (111 off 92 balls) and a beautiful half-ton by Khurram (65 off 67 balls) – with composure and class. The partnership was only broken after 124 balls in the 31st over. A very peculiar but unsurprising batting collapse ensued. Fortunately for Geneva, Leo showed again his teeth and scored a stunning fifty while being supported by Afif. The man of the moment needed a six off the last ball of the innings to score his half-century and complied gracefully with a proper slog on the on side.

CERN started on the good foot but things turned sour when Matthew and Aaron lost their wickets. Two great catches by Leo and some tight bowling by Massoud, Kashif and Afif brought the hosts to their knees. None of the CERN batsmen scored more than 19 runs and they ended up all out with 87 balls remaining.

Getting ready for the game with a little catching practice.
